XJTLU scholarship
XJTLU has established a merit-based scholarship fund for exceptionally qualified applicants for 2016/17, with the largest amount yet offered.
STUDY WITH US
Scholarships available range from 10 to 50 percent of tuition for each award, depending upon the specific scholarship programme.
Available scholarships and eligibility are outlined below. Both international and Chinese students are eligible unless otherwise noted. Successful applicants can be awarded only one scholarship per year, scholarships may not be combined.
The XJTLU scholarship committee meets to consider scholarship awards to students who have already received an offer of admission approximately five times per year from mid-November to mid-June. You are encouraged to apply early for admission to XJTLU programmes to ensure availability of scholarship opportunities.
UNDERGRADUATE
JIANGSU PROVINCE JASMINE SCHOLARSHIP
DEADLINE: 31 MAY 2016
The Jasmine Jiangsu Government Scholarship, set by the Jiangsu provincial government, supports academically excellent international students who would like to undertake full-time study at universities and colleges in the province. These scholarships are open to all international students who wish to study undergraduate study at XJTLU. To be eligible you must apply for your desired programme at XJTLU as well as apply for the scholarship through the Study in Jiangsu website between 1 January and 31 May 2016.
SCHOLARSHIPS
All scholarships will be reduced from the tuition fees each year.
- 51,000 RMB/per person per academic year for four years for students who study science-related subjects
- 48,000 RMB/per person per academic year for four years for students who study arts-related subjects including business
- 30,000 RMB one off for any subject, partial scholarship.
These scholarships are automatically renewed each year if the student passes the year.
ELIGIBILITY
- Applicants for undergraduate programmes must have a senior high school diploma with a good academic performance and be under the age of 30
- Must have a good academic record
- Applicants cannot be recipients of other scholarships offered by the Chinese government, local governments or other XJTLU scholarships.
ENTRY SCHOLARSHIP FOR INTERNATIONAL AND HONG KONG, MACAO AND TAIWAN STUDENTS
We offer an entry scholarship of up to RMB 44,000 (or up to 50 percent of the tuition fee) per year for international and Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan undergraduate students, based on academic merit. Your indication of interest during the online programme application process and an additional essay are required to be considered for this scholarship. Entry scholarships are renewable annually subject to continued strong academic performance.

The panel that makes decisions on entry scholarship awards meets at various times throughout the year and you are encouraged to apply early for admission to XJTLU undergraduate programmes to ensure availability of scholarship opportunities. Deadlines throughout the year are:
- First round: 15 November 2016
- Second round: 15 February 2017
- Third round: 31 March 2017
- Fourth round: 15 May 2017
- Five round: 15 June 2017.

SCHOLARSHIP FOR STUDENTS FROM HONG KONG, MACAO AND TAIWAN
The Chinese Ministry of Education and the Jiangsu provincial government offer additional scholarships exclusively for students from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan. This support is also based upon academic merit. The application process is the same as for other entry scholarships for international students.
HIGHER EDUCATION TOWN SCHOLARSHIP
Suzhou Higher Education Town where XJTLU is located offers generous academic merit scholarships to international undergraduate students studying degree programmes and short courses. Please indicate your interest in being considered during the programme application process.
THE UNIVERSITY OF LIVERPOOL 2+2 DISCOUNT
Continuing XJTLU students who choose the 2+2 study route and transfer to The University of Liverpool for Years Three and Four will be offered a discount of 10 percent off the tuition fees of the University of Liverpool.
PROGRESSION SCHOLARSHIP
Progression scholarships are awarded based upon a student’s average marks in the previous academic session. The award for first class marks is currently RMB 10,000; the award for second class marks is RMB 5,000. Nominations are considered automatically, there is no need for students to apply.
SUMMER UNDERGRADUATE RESEARCH FELLOWSHIPS
XJTLU students may apply to conduct a funded summer research project with expert research staff supervision. These prestigious fellowships are highly sought after as an excellent learning experience and resume builder for graduate programmes and employment. STUDY DUSHU LAKE AMBASSADOR SCHEME
Up to 25 percent reduction of annual tuition fee and work placement may be available for all continuing students.
MASTERS

- 72,000 RMB per person per academic year for the entire study duration for students who study science related subjects
- 68,000 RMB per person per academic year for the entire study duration for students who study arts related subjects including business
- 30,000 RMB one off for any subject, partial scholarship.
These scholarships are automatically renewed each year if the student passes the year.
ELIGIBILITY
- Applicants for the masters degree programmes must have a undergraduate degree and be under the age of 35
- Must have a good academic record
- Applicants cannot be recipients of other scholarships offered by the Chinese government, local governments or other XJTLU scholarships.
MASTERS SCHOLARSHIP
We offer a generous scholarship of up to 50 percent of the total programme tuition fee for all full-time masters programmes based on academic merit. Your indication of interest during the online programme application process and an additional essay are required to be considered for an XJTLU masters scholarship. Scholarships are available for full-time study only, there are currently no scholarships available for part-time programmes. You are encouraged to apply early for admission to XJTLU master’s programmes to ensure availability of scholarship opportunities.

ALUMNI DISCOUNT
If you are a graduate of XJTLU, the University of Liverpool or Xi’an Jiaotong University, you will automatically receive a discount of 20 percent off masters tuition fees.
PHD
SCHOLARSHIPS FOR FUNDED PHD PROJECTS
Specific funded PhD projects are available that have a scholarship covering the tuition fee and a monthly stipend of RMB 3,500 for three years. The scholarship for these projects is awarded based not only on your past academic record, but also on an assessment of your chosen topic and the likelihood of you completing a PhD in the time allocated.
Students who are awarded an XJTLU PhD scholarship are required to work as teaching assistants each semester, which is an excellent opportunity to develop academic skills.

TUITION ONLY SCHOLARSHIPS FOR FULL-TIME PHD STUDY
Additional tuition-only scholarships are offered for full-time PhD study. Under this scheme, tuition will be waived but students pay their own living expenses. The method for enquiry and application is the same as for all full-time PhD opportunities. Learn more about applying for PhD study.
